Arsenal Found Inside Prison in Venezuela

From the article: “Venezuelan officials found 106 firearms and more than 8,000 rounds of ammunition inside a prison after a riot last month that killed 58 people, nearly all of them inmates, the country’s top prison authority said Thursday.”

The weaponry included assault rifles used by the military.

At least 50 dead in Venezuela prison riot: hospital

The article states that the prison system was originally built to hold 14,000, but currently holds 50,000.  Yikes.

Venezuelan officials close prison, seize guns

According to the article, “officials found a total of 56 guns, thousands of rounds of ammunition and 12 grenades at the prison.”

Let me just repeat that – 56 guns, thousands of rounds, and TWELVE GRENADES.  Holy heck.

The article states that inmates often receive contraband weapons from staff and that two staff were under investigation.  I don’t know, maybe shake ’em down, and see if grenades fall out.  Yikes.
