Supreme Court allows inmate to sue government over alleged prison abuse

From the article: “Justices on the US Supreme Court ruled unanimously Wednesday that an inmate who has been trying to sue the federal government for alleged sexual abuse at the hands of prison guards may proceed with the litigation.”

Inmate’s handwritten request will get a rare hearing before Supreme Court

This is definitely a case to keep an eye on.  The U.S. Supreme Court will consider the legal liability of prison guards.  According to the inmate litigant, officers at a prison forced him to perform a sexual act.

Beginning of the end for ‘prison-based gerrymandering’

Sandwiched between its controversial immigration, campaign finance and health-care rulings last month, the Supreme Court issued a little-noticed decision in a Maryland case that gave the green light to states to eliminate the repugnant practice of “prison-based gerrymandering.”
