TX: Senate approved prison system ‘sunset’ bill

From the article: “Under Senate Bill 213, the committee that manages the correctional health care programs will go from a separate state agency to a committee of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice — a move that will undo nearly two decades of state policy that kept the panel separate from prison operations, and controlled by doctors, as a hedge against lawsuits. Legislative leaders had argued that changes in the system in recent years have have made the separate agency unnecessary.”

Hmm…are there still incarcerated people in TX?  Then probably not so much has changed.
