Families Behind Bars


Prison phone rates continue to rise as families continue to struggle  to maintain in close communication with their incarcerated loved ones. It has been said that inmates who keep in touch with their families and loved ones during their prison terms are more likely to experience a smooth transition back to “civilized society”  upon release. In addition, it has been reported that those inmates who have a strong support system on the “outside” also are less likely to be repeat offenders.  How can we continue to promote that inmates stay in close communication with their loved ones when their families are the ones expected to flip the bill. With such astronomical phone rates that sometimes range from $17 to $20 for a 15 minute phone call, can we really expect the families of inmates to cover this type of cost.

For many inmates a phone call is their only link to the outside world…
