CA: More than 115 inmates involved in Calipatria State Prison riot

From the article: “Nine inmates were taken to area hospitals after a riot involving more than 115 inmates erupted at Calipatria State Prison on Saturday evening, prison officials reported.”

According to the article, the riot started after one man approached a group of five and began stabbing them (gang initiation or suicide attempt – you decide).  The five men subdued their attacker, but other inmates from the area joined in, and the riot then spread to a nearby dining hall.

  1. Thanks for posting this! I spent 6 years out of 10 in the other level 4 prison nearby named Centinela. Those are both hard core prison yards. I am so glad I don’t have to face the possibility of those riots daily anymore. One of my books on Amazon, Lock Up Diaries is about a riot I was in at Centinela over another inmates drug debt.
