From the article: “A state inmate who was being temporarily housed at the Cambria County Prison in August was ordered today to stand trial in county court on charges that he strangled his cellmate to death using a torn strip of bedsheet from the cell’s bunk.”
According to the article, the victim had only been in prison four days on a warrant of failure to pay fines and failure to report to his probation officer. The aggressor, on the other hand, transferred to the county jail from the state correctional facility due to a trial for assaulting corrections officers. Hmm…does anyone else see a potential problem from the start?
The inmate aggressor was not much better:
State police alleged that Cramer staged the cell to make it appear that Sherry’s death had been a sucide. But in addition to the sheet tied the victim’s neck, his hands had been tied together behind his back and his ankles bound together, authorities said.
